 Springmount Pottery
Saturday, 29 September 2012
11:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Creswick Museum is open Weekends and Public Holidays.
Tours by arrangement.
Springmount Pottery, located on Springmount on the edge of Creswick, was established by Doug Alexander in 1970. (By coincidence, it was located quite close to Victor Litherland’s house.) Doug became a very well respected potter and teacher. He moved to the A.C.T. in 1976 to set up a pottery there which ran very successfully until his untimely early death in 1981. The pottery was bought by Tina Banitska and Barry Norman in 1981 (just before Doug’s death) and was extensively developed by them. It produced pottery and also became a gallery of some distinction. Pottery from both eras is in State and National collections.
