Home>New recycling bins in commercial areas
| Residents and visitors are being encouraged to help cut down on waste by using new recycling bins in local shopping areas across the Shire of Hepburn.
The Council will soon begin to install dual waste and recycling bin enclosures in all local commercial centres, replacing the single bins now in place.
The installation of these new dual waste and recycling bins will help reduce the amount of waste going to landfill.
Currently all materials collected from bins in commercial and shopping areas are transported to landfill.
Roll out of the program will commence this month at both Daylesford and Trentham commercial shopping precincts, followed by bin installation in Creswick, Clunes and Hepburn Springs/Hepburn later in the year.
The Council Plan 2009-2013 places a strong emphasis on guiding the Shire to environmental sustainability.
This dual bin program in commercial areas will improve Council’s recycling initiatives within the overall waste management program which already offers a recycling service to residential properties in our collection areas.
Bins will be located with consideration to:
- Location of current rubbish bins
- Proximity of current businesses
- Interaction with existing other streetscape structures
- Location of new bins in consideration of current footpath trading policy
- Spacing of bins for ease of operation by users
- Degree that bins were utilised previously
The site maps below show the proposed locations for the new bins in the Trentham and Daylesford shopping areas.
Site maps showing the proposed sites for the replacement bins in Creswick, Clunes and Hepburn Springs shopping areas will be available later in the year prior to the roll out of the program in these towns. | |
