What is community planning?

Hepburn Shire Council supports communities in identifying their vision and priorities through community planning. Community planning empowers communities to make decisions and act on what is important for them now and in the future. Communities that are empowered to do this will be stronger and more successful.

How do we it?
In July 2014 Council Hepburn Shire Council adopted a new Policy and Strategy for community planning.
Highlights of the new strategy include:

  • Establishment of the Community Planning Fund - $10,000 per annum towards projects identified in new or reviewed community plans
  • A process for Council Officers to offer input into draft community plan priorities to help make them a reality
  • Further support for developing community engagement strategies and tools with champions in communities
