Master Plan for the Wombat Hill Botanic Gardens

Council is preparing a Master Plan for the historic Wombat Hill Botanic Gardens.  Established in c.1863, these Gardens include many rare trees and were originally designed by the celebrated 19th century landscape designer William Sangster.  The Wombat Hill Botanic Gardens are a popular tourist attraction and an important part of Victoria’s collection of 19th century regional Botanic Gardens.

The Master Plan for the Wombat Hill Botanic Gardens will guide its development over the next ten years, providing a structure for future works and management.  It will build on the historic gardens, maintaining their heritage significance and well-loved features, while proposing new works which with further enhance these much loved Gardens.   This document will be produced by Laidlaw & Laidlaw Design, who have been engaged by the Council and have extensive experience working on Victoria’s many Botanic Gardens.

As part of the Master Plan process Council is inviting input from various individuals and groups with a connection to the Gardens to complete the attached questionnaire and return to Hepburn Shire Council by the 30 September 2015. Surveys can be emailed  to  or mailed to PO Box 21 Daylesford 3460.
