Council Elections & Caretaker Period

Council elections will be held on Saturday 22 October 2016. From the start of 20 September to 6pm on 22 October 2016, Council will assume a ‘caretaker role’.

During this time, Council will conduct its business in accordance with the Election Period 2016 Caretaker Policy.  This policy ensures that we are complying with the Local Government Act with respect to fair and open council elections. You will notice that posts to the website will be limited during the caretaker period. Your understanding during this time is appreciated.

Celebrate Seniors Week This October

The contribution of one million older Victorians aged 60 years and older will be celebrated this October when the Victorian Seniors Festival kicks off its 34th year.

Starting on Sunday 2 October 2016, the Victorian Government initiative will see more than 1500 free and low-cost individual events and activities held across the state, including in Hepburn Shire.

‘Celebrating Ageing’s Glorious Diversity

This year’s program features a range of entertainment, adventure and fun-focussed activities across sports and the arts, and even concerts such as the Festival Big Band Dance. Food tours and skills-building exercises – such as the High Tea with IT computer skills sessions – are all part of a jam-packed Festival program.

Events are free or low-cost and free public transport will be available for Seniors Card holders during the Festival’s first week from 2 to 9 October.

Council Elections – Candidate Information Session

 

Prospective candidates are also strongly encouraged to attend a candidate information session. An information session will be held:

  • When: 7.00 pm Tuesday 13 September
  • Where: Town Hall, 76 Vincent Street, Daylesford

Candidate Information Kits containing nomination forms and other electoral information will be available at the session.

Nominations to stand as a candidate for the 2016 Hepburn Shire Council elections open on Thursday 15 September.

Community Grants Now Open

Have you got an idea for a community project/initiative?

The Community Grants 2016-17 program opened on 9 September 2016.  It’s not hard to apply and we’re here to help with your application.

Grants are available under the following funding streams:

Community Grants – Active and Engaged Communities (Close on 12 October 2016)
Applications are invited for community projects that strengthen communities and support volunteers. Grants can be used for community events or days of celebration, projects with the purpose of connecting communities, building capacity, sustainable environment and resilience, and promote partnerships.

Towards Zero – Energy Efficiency Initiatives (Close on 31 October 2016)
Expressions of Interest are invited for projects which will reduce carbon emissions through reduced energy consumption and/or increase the use of renewable energy in community buildings.
