Habitat workshop with Damon Gameau

Damon Gameau head shot

Award-winning Australian actor and documentary maker Damon Gameau is guest speaker at a free Habitat Renewal event being held in Trentham on 17 September.

Gameau’s latest film Regenerating Australia poses the question ‘what would Australia look like in 2030 if we simply listened to the needs of its people?’ His other films are 2040, which is about regeneration, and That Sugar Film.

We are incredibly lucky to have somebody of Damon’s calibre come to Trentham and discuss regeneration. It is a timely appearance given that we are in a post-storm regeneration period.

Following Gameau’s speech will be John Harris, a wildlife and ecology expert who will demonstrate wildlife nestbox installation. Dr Joanne Isaac from Ecology and Restoration Australia will present on rope canopy bridges to support fauna recovery and increase connectivity in the bush for native wildlife. Lauren Linke, an environmental specialist with Council’s Storm Recovery Team will discuss environmental weeds and how to identify and manage them.

The event is being run by Hepburn Shire Council’s Storm Recovery Team and is free to the public. Bookings are not required.

It opens at 11.30am and Damon Gameau will speak at 12noon. The other speakers will follow and it is expected to finish around 3pm.

This event is jointly funded by the Australian and Victorian Governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.  Please direct any enquiries to Council’s Storm Recovery Team on (03) 4373 7373 or StormRecoveryJune2021@hepburn.vic.gov.au
