Council recently replaced a single flag pole at Daylesford Town hall with two new flag poles to enable the Aboriginal flag to be flown permanently. The Aboriginal flag was officially raised above the Daylesford Town Hall on 5 July 2015, the first day of NAIDOC week, in recognition of the Traditional Owners of Hepburn Shire, the Dja Dja Wurrung people. We also recognise our indigenous culture, land and the living heritage that is unique to our region.
We worked in collaboration with Dja Dja Wurrung Clans Aboriginal Corporation to present this event. We now look forward to working with Traditional Owners, local indigenous representatives and colleagues in reconciliation organisations to further discuss local government reconciliation initiatives in 2015-16.
