Dead & Injured Animals

Impounded Dogs and Cats housed at the Ballarat Animal Shelter are kept for a period of 8 days . If they are not claimed within that period, they may be rehoused or euthanize. (Council has a current Section 81 agreement under the Domestic Animal Act with the Ballarat Animal Shelter for the provision of pound services).

Wildlife matters are not managed by Council. If you find an injured or orphaned animal you can call Wildlife Victoria’s 24 hour state wide Emergency Phoneline on 13 000 WILDLIFE (13 000 94535), the Hepburn Wildlife Shelter on 5348 3932 or Help for Wildlife on 0477 555 611.
