Council will assist in educating the community about a new initiative at the Daylesford Transfer Station.
What’s the initiative?
The Daylesford Transfer Station will trial a new mixed materials recovery bin for 3 months. The bin will allow materials that have previously been sent to landfill to be recycled. Someone will be at the Daylesford site from 10-4 each day to ensure materials are directed to the appropriate bin. Here are some examples of materials that can now be recycled:
Building materials such as tiles, cement sheet, bricks, besser blocks, pavers, terracotta pipe, roof tiles, concrete sinks and shower bases, plaster board, glass, windows, some furniture, plastics (all types), hard plastics pots, pallets, watering containers, poly pipe (no PVC), film wrap, bubble wrap, lazeriight, wrapping from insulation bags, plastic used under concrete slabs, old tarps, blow up pools and inflatable toys. Many different types of timber not suitable for re-use or kindling (eg. painted timber, treated pine, mdf, chipboard, laminated timbers, old bench tops and timber off cuts).
Please support this initiative by placing materials in the correct areas. We are planning to trial this initiative at Trentham and Creswick in the coming months.
