Council has a range of opportunities for people interested in becoming a volunteer.

Why volunteer in Hepburn Shire?

There are many reasons why you may want to volunteer. These include:

  • Support the community in which you live
  • Have contact with people who live in your community or visit the region
  • Gain work experience and personal development
  • Learn new skills
  • Take on new challenges
  • Make a difference to the local community

Volunteer at a Visitor Information Centre

Hepburn Shire has Visitor Information Centres in Daylesford, Creswick, Clunes and Trentham.  Volunteers respond to visitor enquiries via telephone and face to face at these Information Centres.

Council provides extensive training to all volunteers to develop product knowledge and customer service skills to enable them to respond to visitor enquiries.

Activity Group Volunteers

Council provides a number of Activity Groups for both older people and people with disabilities in Creswick and Daylesford.  Volunteers are an integral part of the group – assisting staff to provide social opportunities and group activities for residents.

Volunteers must undertake regular National Police Checks and are provided with training opportunities to assist them in their role.

Community Visitors Scheme

Volunteering with the Community Visitors Scheme provides the opportunity to connect with a resident of a Residential Aged Care Home.  The community visitor is a volunteer who is matched appropriately with a resident taking into account interests and backgrounds.  A community visitor needs to commit to visiting at least once a fortnight to share time and interests with the resident.  Most community visitors find that they enjoy the friendship as much as the resident does, and that the relationship is both positive and rewarding.

The Community Visitor Scheme is a Federal Government initiative.
