Apply for a planning permit

Check the status of your application. 

Please check if your application can be processed as a VicSmart Planning Permit Application. If so, please visit Apply for a VicSmart planning application.

Otherwise follow the steps below.

Step 1. Prepare your application

All applications must include:

  • A copy of title (not more than 90 days old) including the register search statement, title plan and any encumbrances.
  • A copy of all plans including site plan, elevations and floor plan. Plans must show existing and new buildings, floor levels, site levels, earthworks and tree removal. Applications that include the use of land must include a description of the business (e.g. opening hours, number of staff). Plans must be at a scale of 1:100 or 1:200. 
  • Any relevant reports such as bushfire management plans, cultural heritage management plans etc. 

Step 2. Review application checklists

 Please review the relevant checklist to ensure you have all of the required material.

Step 3. Complete the application

Apply now to begin the application lodgment process.

Step 4. Pay the application fee

You will receive an email with an invoice and instructions on how to pay.

The fee schedule will provide you with an idea of the associated costs which you may incur, with the amount confirmed after an assessment by the statutory planning team. 

Step 5. Application allocated

Once your fee is paid, the application will be allocated to a planner for assessment. You can find more detail on the planning processes and how to track your application on each page respectively.
