Advocacy

One of Council's roles is to advocate for better outcomes for our Shire through service improvements and capital investment. Council acknowledges the important role that advocacy plays in the local government landscape and endorsed several priority projects that will see better outcomes for the Hepburn Shire.

Council has demonstrated a strong history of attracting state and federal government grants for various projects.

Rural Councils Victoria (RCV)

Council is a member of RCV. RCV have released their 2026 Victorian Election Platform(PDF, 691KB). This platform represents a central plank of joint advocacy to Federal MPs, candidates and policymakers ahead of the federal election — and beyond.

Greater Ballarat Alliance of Councils (GBAC)

Council is a member of GBAC, which also includes the City of Ballarat, Central Goldfields Shire Council, Golden Plains Shire Council, Moorabool Shire Council, and Pyrenees Shire Council.

The group has a common goal to ensure our communities receive the services and infrastructure they need to prosper.
