Health and wellbeing

Council’s Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan (MPHWP) has been integrated into the Community vision and Council Plan 2025–2029. Council and community identified health and wellbeing priority areas for working towards the Community Vision. They are:

  • Increased active living
  • Increasing mental wellbeing

Being healthy and well is not just the absence of disease, it is the result of a combination of physical, social, mental, emotional and spiritual factors that influence a person’s ability to live a happy and meaningful life.  A holistic view of health and wellbeing is taken throughout the MPHWP, acknowledging the following priority groups:

  • First Nations peoples
  • Older people
  • Children, youth and families
  • Women
  • People from low socio-economic backgrounds
  • Culturally and linguistically diverse
  • People living with a disability
  • LGBTIQA+
