Ream Cafe

Ream Cafe is the only Cambodian coffee house in Daylesford, and one of very few anywhere in regional Victoria.

You will find it inside The Rex arcade, just off Vincent Street, a few steps from the main run of shops. The drink to order is the Cambodian iced coffee. It is not an iced latte. It is strong coffee over plenty of ice, with sweetened condensed milk in place of most of the milk, the way it is made in Cambodia, where the heat leaves you no choice. Our owner has been making it since she was eleven years old. She still makes it by hand, one at a time.

The espresso side is Toby's Estate, Rico blend, every shot pulled to order and never in advance. Pastries and croissants come in fresh each morning and are gone when they are gone.

The name comes from Preah Ream, the hero of the Reamker, the Cambodian telling of the Ramayana. The two archers on our sign are him. In Khmer, "Ream" is also the word you put before someone's name to show them respect.

There are a few tables inside if you want to stay, and you order at the counter. Open seven days from 6:30am, public holidays included. Order ahead on our website and pick it up at the time you choose.
