The application for an extension of time on a planning permit must be submitted:
If you submit your request outside these times, Council and the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) cannot extend the permit. A new application for a planning permit must be submitted.
There is no guarantee the extension will be approved. Each request is assessed individually, and the delegate has authority to issue a refusal if the request is deemed inappropriate.
Complete and submit the online application form. To do so, find your permit application. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select 'Extension of Time to Permit Dates'.
You must provide your application number and the reason or the extension. If you have commenced works, you must provide supporting documents with your request.
Pay the application fee. The fee to request an extension is between $332 and $743, depending on the number of previous requests you have made. You can make the payment online. Have your invoice handy for payment details. Your application will only be processed once payment has been received.
When assessing a request to extend a permit's expiry date, the Statutory Planning team will consider relevant criteria, including whether there have been any changes to the Hepburn Planning Scheme or adopted policy since the permit was issued.
The timeframe for assessment is generally 10 business days. If we need further information from you, this may impact on processing times.
