Community members and residents impacted by the storm events throughout the year are invited to a free event hosted by Hepburn Shire Council on Thursday 25 November.

Along with a free barbecue meal, the evening is an opportunity to come together, see old and new friends, and also hear from clinical psychologist, Dr Rob Gordon Ph.D.

Mayor, Cr Lesley Hewitt, said Council has invited Dr Gordon along to share his expertise on helping people recovery from disasters.

“Dr Gordon will be drawing on his 40 years’ experience working with survivors of traumatic events, disasters and work-related critical incidents,” said Cr Hewitt.

“He has a depth of knowledge and a great deal of compassion about people’s experience of disaster as a result of his work stretching as far back as the Ash Wednesday fires in 1983,” she said.

"Dr Gordon’s presentation will make for compelling listening as he explains the science and emotion of trauma and the various milestones and processes of recovery.

“I think it will be an interesting and useful talk and a great chance for people to come together for a barbecue, catch up with friends and ask some questions afterwards,” she said.
