Council moves to a staged approach for Daylesford Town Hall
Published on 19 December 2025
At its meeting on Tuesday 16 December, Council resolved to deliver the Daylesford Community Facilities project in stages that align with potential funding.
The project seeks to redevelop the existing Daylesford Town Hall to provide a library, customer experience hub and multipurpose community facilities for Daylesford and surrounds.
On Tuesday night, Council endorsed the project’s schematic design and supported the staged approach recommended by officers which would see a detailed design included in the next stage.
Mayor, Cr Tony Clark, said that the project will now be completed in line with the resources available to Council.
“The new staged approach is a sensible approach given Council’s financial and resource limitations. We will continue to seek funding opportunities to see this project come to life and become a community hub for our community,” he said.
The detailed design, funded within the 2025/26 Capital Works program, will cover the first portion of the remaining works and include the front section of the town hall and auditorium upgrades.
An endorsed detailed design is necessary to ensure Council can apply for state and federal government funding opportunities in the future.
Community feedback has been integral to this project, and earlier this year the community was able to have their say on the draft schematic design. Council will continue to engage the community through future stages of the project to ensure this facility meets their needs.
The remainder of the works indicated by the schematic design (multipurpose and backstage spaces and library) will be the subject of potential future stages and available funding.
“Council would also like to extend a sincere thank you to the Project Advisory Group that has been invaluable in developing the design detailing the library, multipurpose and customer service spaces and auditorium upgrades,” said Cr Clark.
