Council is supporting Hepburn Shire residents on their low-waste journey by encouraging a swap to cloth nappies.
Mayor, Cr Tim Drylie, said that a whopping 3.75 million disposable nappies are sent to landfill daily in Australia and New Zealand, and once there can take up to 200 years to break down.
“We encourage anyone considering the swap to cloth nappies to register for a free online workshop, and receive a starter pack and go-to guide. Making the switch to cloth nappies is an environmentally friendly and low-cost alternative to disposable nappies,” said Cr Drylie.
The breakdown of organic materials in landfill creates methane, a powerful greenhouse gas contributing to the changing climate.
By the end of the Modern Cloth Nappy Workshop participants will be able to:
Understand the different types and styles of modern cloth nappies
Know the correct processes for laundering and storing modern cloth nappies
Be able to troubleshoot problems such as leaks and correct fit
Receive a free Cloth Nappy Starter Pack and PDF Go-To Guide
