Cr Tony Clark has been elected Mayor in the second year of this four-year Council term, for a 12-month period.

Cr Tony Clark, who was elected as a councillor in 2024, said he thanked the councillor group for their belief in his leadership and that he looked forward to working productively over the coming year.

“Thank you to Cr Don Henderson and Cr Lesley Hewitt for their leadership over the last twelve months. I will work constructively and positively with my fellow councillors to address the challenges ahead and to build trust with our community,” said Cr Tony Clark.

Cr Shirley Cornish was also elected as Deputy Mayor for the next 12 months, following also being elected in the 2024 Local Government elections.

Bradley Thomas, Hepburn Shire Council CEO, said he was pleased to have Cr Clarke and Cr Cornish in these positions of leadership over the coming 12 months.

“Congratulations to the newly elected Mayor and Deputy Mayor, and I look forward to working closely and collaboratively with them on projects and initiatives that deliver on our Council Plan, especially in the next 12 months as we head into a State election where we will be seeking support to secure the long-term future of Hepburn Shire.”

“I would like to thank Cr Don Henderson and Cr Lesley Hewitt for their leadership and work over the last 12 months as Mayor and Deputy Mayor. The first 12 months of a Council term is critical for developing the new Council Plan and other strategic documents, and their leadership made this process a success,” said Mr Thomas.
