School holidays and children jumping in the air with excitement

Looking for a creative, free and family-friendly way to keep the kids entertained these school holidays? Hepburn Libraries have a jam-packed program of hands-on activities, workshops and storytime sessions guaranteed to spark imaginations and keep boredom at bay.

Children of all ages are welcome to take part in exciting and FREE sessions at libraries in Daylesford, Creswick, Clunes and Trentham.

Daylesford Library

Daylesford will be buzzing with creativity. Future architects, designers and builders will love The Block session organised by Council’s Youth team, where they get to build, furnish and decorate the house of their dreams (10-11am, Monday 29 September). Kids can design quirky Felt Accessories (10.30–11.30am, Tuesday 23 September), build a Shoe Sculpture out of recycled objects (2–3pm, Wednesday 24 September), or get messy in a Clay Workshop (10.30–11.30am, Tuesday 30 September). Budding artists can also try their hand at Paper Marbling to create colourful swirls of art (10.30–11.30am, Friday 3 September).

Creswick Hub

At Creswick, families can join in the fun of making their very own Spring Popcorn Tree – a unique craft session that turns popcorn into blossoms (11am–12pm, Tuesday 23 September). There’s two special Birdie storytimes to help children learn how to prepare for and respond to emergencies (9.30–10am, Thursday 25 and Tuesday 30 September). Later in the holidays, Creswick hosts The Block, where young builders can team up to design and decorate the house of their dreams, all while keeping an eye on their budget (2–3pm, Monday 29 September).

Clunes – The Warehouse - Clunes

Clunes is offering something shiny and spectacular with Embossed Foil Pendants, make your own necklace or medallion, by pressing your design into a foil disc.  Perfect for little hands that love patterns and textures (11.30am – 12.30pm, Thursday 2 October).

Trentham – The Mechanics Trentham

In Trentham, children can get close to nature with a Birds Nest Workshop led by artist Kathy Holowko, using natural materials to create their own nests and eggs (10.30–11.30am, Wednesday 1 October). For the littlest library visitors, Birdie Storytime will bring giggles and wonder (10.30–11am Wednesday 24 September and 9.45am–10.15am, Tuesday 14 October).

With something happening at every library, there’s never been a better time to explore and join in the fun. All programs are free, but places are limited – bookings are essential.
