Dr Meaghan Douglas joined Agriculture Victoria’s Ellinbank SmartFarm team in 2014 while doing her honours year of her undergraduate degree, investigating the positive association between milk protein concentration and fertility in maiden heifers. She then completed a PhD in 2020 investigating the nutritive characteristics of perennial ryegrass and implications for diet formulation for grazing dairy cows.
Meaghan’s key research interests are in ruminant nutrition and cow productivity, with her more recent research investigating the effects of time away from pasture, and potential mitigation strategies to ensure that all cows are fed a diet that will optimise nutrient intake, regardless of milking order. Meaghan led the recent demonstration of the Halter virtual fencing technology at Ellinbank, and was heavily involved in the training and management of the cows.
The webinar will be held on Microsoft Teams. Details will be emailed to all registered participants 48 hours before the event, and again 1 hour prior to the start.

The Healthy Landscapes: Practical Regenerative Agricultural Communities program aims to raise awareness in their community about sustainable land management practices that improve soil health, reduce exposure to climate risk, enhance biodiversity and increase on-farm productivity. This program is being delivered as a partnership.
