Cr Tony Clark Wombat Hill Day Basin

It has now been two weeks following my election as Mayor. I want to begin by thanking my fellow Councillors for their confidence and support in electing me. The next 12 months will be busy and full of opportunities and challenges.

Hepburn Shire is such a beautiful place with so much diversity. One of my first functions as Mayor was to open the new Day Basin at the Wombat Hill Botanic Gardens. Not only does it look amazing, but take a moment when you're there to close your eyes and really immerse yourself. I want to acknowledge the amazing Friends of Wombat Hill who raised and contributed over $200,000, your financial, and more importantly, personal, contribution will serve our community for decades to come. Your gift of time and effort cannot be acknowledged enough, like all volunteers.

Over the coming 12 months I will be focusing on bringing people together and providing leadership. The mayor role is only one of seven Councillors and our results are what we all do collectively, not just any one person. I am truly excited and honoured to have this amazing opportunity and I am looking forward to listening, exploring, innovating and leading.

Finally, I truly believe we have a positive future ahead. While we have challenges, we need to look ahead not behind and work together, like so many community groups, to make our home even more beautiful so we can all contribute to leaving an amazing legacy for generations to come.
