Hepburn Shire Council has seven Councillors elected every four years by the community to represent them on local public issues.

Every year Councillors elect a Mayor and Deputy Mayor to serve for 12 months.

 Previous Councillors and Mayors of the Shire

Council was established by Order of the Governor in Council on 19 January 1995, which mandated the amalgamation of several smaller shires into one large municipality.

The following document contains a list of the various local government areas amalgamated into Hepburn Shire Council, as well as the Councillors, Mayors and Chairpersons of each historical area.

This document was a collaboration between Council and the following local organisations: Daylesford and District Historical Society, Glenlyon Progress Association, and the Creswick Museum Committee.
