The Fire Danger Period for Hepburn Shire started at 1 am on Monday 24 November.

Council is inviting community members to share their views on the draft Domestic Animal Management Plan (DAMP), which will guide how cats and dogs are cared for and managed in the Shire over the next four years.
The draft plan has been developed using valuable insights gathered from earlier community engagement. Council is now seeking further feedback from pet owners, animal lovers, and all residents on the final plan.
Newly elected Mayor, Cr Tony Clark, said Council’s goal through the DAMP is to create a safer, more pet-friendly community for everyone.
“As someone who relies on a service dog every day, I know firsthand the important role animals play in our lives and in the wellbeing of our community. I encourage pet owners and non-pet owners to have their say on the draft DAMP,” said Cr Tony Clark.

Community feedback is open until Friday 12 December 2025. Council will review the feedback and consider the DAMP for adoption at the February 2026 meeting.
