Council has reviewed its Road Management Plan in accordance with the Road Management Act 2004, to ensure our road network remains safe, reliable, and consistently maintained for all users.
Mayor, Cr Don Henderson said that the draft Road Management Plan 2025–2029 outlines how Council manages and maintains over 1,400 kilometres of local roads across the Shire, including footpaths and other roadside infrastructure.
“I strongly encourage the community to take part in the consultation process which is open until Friday 19 September.”
“Our roads and footpaths are a vital part of community life. The Plan impacts drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, public transport users and people using mobility aids. This review is about ensuring we continue to deliver safe and efficient infrastructure that meets our growing needs,” said Cr Don Henderson.
Key areas of the draft plan include:
Council’s responsibilities under the Road Management Act 2004
Management of road and footpath assets
Inspection and maintenance schedules
Intervention levels and response times for defects
Community members are encouraged to review the draft Road Management Plan, and its associated Road Register and Footpath Register and provide feedback on the Participate Hepburn website.
Submissions are open until Friday 19 September 2025.
Please note, this applies to local roads only and does not include roads managed by external agencies such as the Department of Transport and Planning, Parks Victoria, VicRoads and others.
