Planning is underway for new female-friendly change rooms (and associated facilities and works) at Doug Lindsay Recreation Reserve, with fresh funding secured to move the project closer to construction.

Council has received a $38,900 grant from Sport and Recreation Victoria to fund the next phase of design work, progressing the project towards a construction-ready stage.

Mayor, Cr Tony Clark, said the project would play an important role in supporting participation and inclusion in local sport.

“This is an important step forward for Creswick’s sporting community and a strong investment into the future of local soccer,” he said.

The proposed development will deliver modern, inclusive change room facilities at the reserve, supporting the continued growth of the Creswick Soccer Club and improving access for women and girls in sport.

The total project is estimated at $3.52 million, with $600,000 already secured from the Australian Government. Council has also committed $30,000 in the 2025/26 financial year to support early-stage planning.

“The Creswick Cougars Soccer Club is already a strong and growing club, but the current change rooms are limiting further growth. These new facilities will help unlock new opportunities, particularly for women and girls. We will continue to advocate strongly for the remaining funding needed to bring this project to life,” said Cr Tony Clark.

The detailed design phase will include full costings and ensure the facility meets accessibility compliance standards.

Construction of the project will be subject to securing an additional $2.92 million in external funding. The project has been identified as a key priority within Council’s advocacy program, with ongoing efforts to secure the remaining investment.

Council remains committed to supporting community sport and creating facilities that encourage participation for all members of the community.
