Council awarded three important contracts at its Council Meeting last night.
Firstly, Council awarded a contract for kerbside recycling processing to Cleanaway for a two-year term. This followed a public tender process held in February and March 2026.
Mayor, Cr Tony Clark, said that Council is responsible for the collection and disposal of more than 8,500 kerbside recycling services across our Shire, generating around 1,438 tonnes of recyclables each year.
“The recommended two-year term aligns with Council’s current kerbside collection contract and gives us flexibility while the Victorian Government finalises its proposed recycling service standards. This approach helps maintain consistent services and allows us to adapt to future changes in government policy,” said Cr Clark.
Secondly, Council awarded the contract for the design development stage of the Daylesford Town Hall upgrade project to Lovell Chen for the sum of $90,620.
“This is another important milestone in the Daylesford Town Hall project, allowing us to advance the schematic designs endorsed at the 16 December 2025 Ordinary Council Meeting to more detailed designs,” said Cr Clark.
This schematic design being progressed to detail designs detail improvements and new works to the Daylesford Town Hall/Senior Citizens’ Building to deliver Council and community spaces.
Thirdly, Council awarded a contract for Cambridge Street and Victoria Street improvements in Creswick to Butler Excavations Pty Ltd for the sum of $523,810.
“This project will deliver important improvements such as better pedestrian pathways and crossings, more organised and formalised parking, and other upgrades to enhance safety, accessibility, and the overall streetscape,” said Cr Clark.
Council’s 2025/26 Capital Works Program includes a project to upgrade Cambridge Street in Creswick. This project is funded jointly by Council and the Victorian Government through the Safe Local Roads and Streets Program.
“The awarding of these three contracts illustrates how strong procurement practices ensure that we deliver transparency, along with accountability, fairness, and lasting value for the community,” said Cr Clark.
