Council is supporting local agribusinesses, farmers, producers and growers to attend the inaugural Farmer’s Day Out by providing a limited number of free tickets, ensuring the region’s farming community has access to vital business tools, connections and resources.

The event will be held on Wednesday 25 March at the Ballarat Showgrounds from 9 am to 5 pm, bringing together specialised keynote speakers, modern farming exhibitors, and a diverse series of workshops and panel discussions covering agribusiness tourism, farm finance management, and succession planning.

Mayor, Cr Tony Clark, said supporting the local farming community was a key priority for Council and an action in the Council Plan 2025–2029.

“Farming is at the heart of our region and Hepburn Shire, and the Farmer’s Day Out event gives our producers access to the tools, insights and connections they need to continue thriving,” said Cr Clark.

“We’re proud to support local farmers and agribusinesses by offering free tickets to help remove barriers to participation,” he said.

To access up to two free tickets, local agribusinesses can email business@hepburn.vic.gov.au and provide their contact details including business name, email and address.

Keynote speaker Simon Quilty, an agricultural science graduate with 35 years’ experience in the meat and livestock sector, will headline the event. The program also features an innovation panel exploring how farmers are adapting as technology advances and farming methods evolve. A third major session will be announced shortly, adding further value to an already comprehensive schedule.

“The event arrives at a crucial time for local producers. Events like this strengthen not only individual farm businesses but also the resilience of our broader sector. With the challenges of drought, changing markets and shifting climate conditions, it’s essential our farmers have access to practical support and expert knowledge” he said.

The event is being facilitated by Commerce Ballarat, supported by funding received through the Regional Drought Resilience Program, delivered as part of the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund and the Victorian Government.
