A revised masterplan for Victoria Park in Daylesford was adopted at last night’s meeting, setting a clear direction for the future of this much-loved community asset.

Mayor, Cr Tony Clark, said that the updated masterplan was informed by two rounds of internal and external stakeholder engagement, including extensive community consultation.

“The masterplan outlines a range of actions to support existing uses of the park, including soccer, netball, table tennis and community events. It also introduces several new elements to enhance the overall visitor experience,” he said.

The masterplan includes the creation of a playspace with a picnic area and toilet facilities, including a Changing Places facility. A dedicated dog off-lead area has also been identified, along with improvements to the reserve’s pedestrian and vehicle circulation.

“The adoption of the masterplan demonstrates our commitment to ensuring Victoria Park continues to evolve in line with community needs. The masterplan gives us the foundation to now work with State and Federal government to seek funding to deliver elements of the plan.”

“Victoria Park is a valued space for residents, sporting clubs and visitors. The masterplan reflects what our community told us they value and what they want to see improved. The plan balances sport, recreation and accessibility, while supporting the long-term vision for the reserve,” said Cr Clark.

Key sporting and event precincts will also receive significant upgrades. The soccer precinct will see the development of a second pitch, supporting infrastructure, a pavilion and improved parking. The netball and table tennis precinct will benefit from a second netball court, enhanced infrastructure, DDA-compliant toilet facilities, and heating and cooling improvements to the table tennis building. Event-related upgrades include a new public address system, renewed ticket office, an improved event-day office and additional power outlets to better support large gatherings.

“Our clubs, community groups and residents played a vital role in shaping this masterplan. Their input ensures that the design, functionality and priorities within Victoria Park truly reflect the aspirations of those who use it most,” said Cr Clark.

The development of the Victoria Park Masterplan was a jointly funded initiative between Council and the Victorian Government’s Tiny Towns grant program. The project included a review of the 2015 masterplan, assessment of existing funding commitments and comprehensive consultation to ensure the plan is aligned with current use and future needs.

The masterplan also highlights improvements to the park’s overall connectivity, including an engineering assessment of the main entry and exit and an extended and enhanced path network to support safer and more efficient movement.
