Across Australia, more than six million people volunteer through organisations, with millions more stepping up informally to support neighbours and strangers, especially during times of challenge and recovery. It is this quiet generosity that keeps communities strong.Since 1989, National Volunteer Week has been the country’s leading celebration of volunteers and the incredible contribution they make. This year’s theme, “Your year to volunteer”, shines a light on the power of giving your time and how it brings people together. To mark the occasion, we’re inviting community groups across Hepburn Shire to nominate up to three volunteers to attend one of our local celebration events. Each gathering will include food, drinks and live music, offering a relaxed chance to connect, reflect and celebrate the people who make our communities what they are. This traditional high tea is an elegant, unhurried experience set around beautifully dressed tables with fine china, teapots, and tiered stands of food. Guests enjoy a selection of teas alongside a classic spread of finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones with jam and cream, and delicate sweets like cakes and pastries. With live music in the background and a relaxed atmosphere, it’s as much about connection and conversation as it is about the food, creating a warm sense of occasion without feeling formal or rushed. These events are proudly supported through State Government funding under the Community Recovery Hub and Local Government Support Fund programs.
