“There was no warning … I don’t know why there wasn’t any warning…”
Full of amazing footage, heaps of locals with their insights and humour, plenty of expert analysis and explanation, WINDFALL is confronting, moving, relentlessly funny and, at times, just a tiny bit sweary.
On 9 June 2019, a freak storm changed our community forever. The aim of this documentary is to understand and document this extraordinary weather event and preserve the stories of endurance, resilience and recovery that followed.
The screening of WINDFALL will be followed by Katrina Douglas's short film, originally shown at the Big Trentham Thank You Event, as a tribute to the emergency services and volunteers who supported the community during and after the storm.
A Q&A session with local storm chasers Clyve and Jane Herbert will follow, along with a slideshow of photographs by Sandy Scheltema, whose images document both the devastation and the resilience of the community in the days and months that followed.
Guests are invited to stay for refreshments kindly provided by the Hepburn Shire Emergency and Resilience Team.
This is a free event, but bookings are essential.
