On Wednesday 19 February, Council Officers and Gaia EnviroTech staff opened the doors at Creswick Transfer Station and welcomed councils from across the region to learn about our food and garden organics processing.
Representatives from Mount Alexander Shire Council, Buloke Shire Council, Northern Grampians Shire Council and Wyndam City Council were led through the facility, which was followed by a tour of Gaia's manufacturing and laboratory operations in Ballarat.
Council Officers, along with Gaia owner Sandy Gray, spoke to the history of the partnership between Gaia and Council, the new Sustainability Victoria-supported Circular Organics project and about how councils can work collaboratively in the future.
Overall, the day was a success and showcased the innovative partnership between Gaia and Council.
This week Officers presented a webinar to 52 representatives of State and local government across Victoria. Sharing the project journey with other councils is part of the project design so that we can collectively improve the quality and end markets for the compost we make from food and garden organics collections.
